Toncelli kitchens experience with different materials

8 marzo, 2017

From technology used for aerospace applications to the choice of traditional architectural components, right through to the recycling of exclusive materials, enriched with historical charm.

For each of its kitchens, Toncelli doesn’t just put together a design that’s functional and high impact in terms of aesthetics. In fact, furnishings get their unique value from the material that surrounds them, which is why this has been the Tuscan company’s most important area of experimentation for more than sixty years.

There is no specific preference when it comes to materials: Toncelli’s research and development lab rather aims at identifying and testing solutions that are still unknown in this industry, making them invaluable. What makes a Toncelli kitchen so striking is therefore its finish and the craftsmanship that goes into making it, with every single detail being painstakingly looked after, resulting in truly unique products.

For example, the Invisibile range marks the introduction of carbon fiber, a material that is commonly used in complex aerospace engineering projects: this material guarantees high levels of mechanical resistance for supports, as well as great resistance to changes in temperature and the damaging effects of chemical agents.  What’s more, its metallic effect, lightness and minimal thickness guarantee simple, sculptural shapes, which are enhanced by the invisible push-to-open system, inspiring the name of this collection.

Wind, on the other hand, explores a blend of pliable cement for the first time, which offers much greater resistance to pressure than traditional cement. This allows for the creation of incredibly thin doors and worktops with a limited weight. This “cement mousse” can be coloured using natural pigments, creating shades ranging from grey to black to a sophisticated chocolate nuance, with the result being a kitchen that’s always designed and made to measure.

With its Essence range, Toncelli has instead managed to recover an invaluable piece of our history: in fact, this range of kitchens, new to 2016, has been created from petrified wood with unique properties. This material’s veining and colours are caused by mineral deposits which create an extraordinary decorative effect. The crystallization process caused over time also eliminates porosity, without taking away the possibility to work the wood with the same tools as those used for solid blocks.

Wood, cement, metal, but also marble and natural regenerated leather: these are the finishes to Toncelli@¬#s creations, which have always combined wonderful materials with incredible durability – something that’s more important in the kitchen than anywhere else.
