The Scavolini Utility System: great accessibility in the kitchen

The Scavolini Utility System is adeessed to people with disabilities, the elderly or those who have difficulties due to limited possibilities of action and movement, without compromising design. A fundamental characteristic of the Utility System is its capacity to resolve both vertical and horizontal ergonomic issues.

Vertically, the main factor is the possibility of selecting the height of the worktop, appliances and wall units, as well as the size of the plinth (a choice of three different measurements) and the position of the handles. The upper wall units, normally positioned 45/50 cm from the worktop, can be equipped with sliding baskets. For those who have difficulty in doing this by hand, there is a motorised system incorporated in the units that allows all internal shelves to be lowered and then raised back using a switch. Furthermore, in order not to create obstacles to wheelchair footplates, a 26 cm-high plinth that’s further back than the standard one can be chosen.

Horizontally, accessibility is ensured by the specifically shaped and the pull-out worktops that reduce the need for movement. The heart of the Utility System is the shaped hanging worktop, with no base units or feet, allowing movement to be limited to a bare minimum and permitting comfortable access even with wheelchairs. For the utmost safety and convenience, the hob can be fitted with a tip-up grid which allows pots and heavy containers to be moved easily from the burner to the sink and vice versa, calmly and effortlessly. In order to increase the work surfaces, with less space, one or more pull-out chopping boards can be installed beneath the worktop.
