It only takes place once a year, but it is a real concentration of design and style, quality and excellence that attracts crowds of visitors from home and abroad.
The Milanese iconic event celebrates this year its 56th edition that takes place at the usual venue in Fiera Milano Rho, from Tuesday 4th to Sunday 9th April. Spanish furniture and lighting companies are out in force again waiting for their visitors.
Everyone who’s anyone on the international furniture design and manufacturing scene simply has to be there. In April, Milan turns into an international thriving capital of furnishing and design with the Salone del Mobile.Milano and the Fuorisalone as dynamizing elements. Now in its 56th edition, the exhibition opens its doors to style and trends through an exclusive array of brands and products – from furnishing to lighting to new workspace design concepts.
This year, well over 300,000 visitors from around 165 different countries are expected to descend on Milan to see what big names of the design industry have in store for us. But it’s not all about contemporary and avant-garde designs. Following the successful launch of the last edition of xLux, the Salone Internazionale del Mobile has refocused on Classic, offering an innovative format for classic furniture and furnishing accessories, in halls 2 and 4, and extending the xLux pavilion to hall 1. This new space is entirely dedicated to companies that have evolved towards an original stylistic expression which a perfect fusion of classic style and more contemporary design concepts.
With 53 furniture brands on display and approximately 6,400 sqm of exhibition stands, Spain makes up once again the largest non-Italian contingent at the Salone and the biennial exhibition Workplace 3.0. The strong presence of Spain in Milan is motivated by the positive performance of the Spanish furniture on almost all main international markets.
Data processed by ANIEME (Spanish National Association of Furniture Manufacturers & Exporters) show that in 2016 exports rose above 2 million euros (+11,1%), with significant growth in France (+16.8%), UK (+6.5%), the United States (+18.4%) and Italy (+23.3%). The Salone represents an unparalleled chance to meet high profile foreign professionals with solid buying power and establish new business relationship with key players of the global interior design industry.
Spanish brands are key exhibitors in all the three style sectors – Classic, xLux, Design- as well as in the Workplace 3.0 exhibition and the EuroLuce, which are running alongside with the Salone. Great names of Spanish and international design scene have worked in full synergy with young brands and historic companies to put together an offer that reflects the cultural changes of our time and covers different markets and lifestyles – from the haute décor to most vibrant designs and the freshest trends.
In the Classic and xLux halls, Mueble de España boasts the presence of leading national manufacturers and big names of the luxury sector, such as Colección Alexandra, Soher, Mariner, Tecni Nova, Valenti or Guadarte, while the Design sector will host Spain’s upmarket fashion brands like Kettal, Gandía Blasco, Andreu World, Arlex, Point, Viccarbe, Sancal or Capdell.
Workplace 3.0 – now in its 18th edition – hosts companies that have been gaining ground in the contract sector working in the interior design of public institutions, schools, universities, offices, banks and community spaces. Among them Kriska Decor, Calcher, Tagar or Ofifran. Their offer of desks, chairs, storage and filing units, space dividers and decorative elements are complemented by the innovative LCD-TFT audiovisual solutions of Soltec and the technologically advanced fabrics of Vertisol.
