Neolith Nero Marquina has won the prestigious Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 in the Materials and Surfaces category, and the Interzum Award too.
Inspired by marble from Spain, the trendy monochromatic décor stood out to the judges because of the outstanding technical skills applied to achieve a design that perfectly replicates the natural stone.
Nero Marquina is a testament to the technical expertise present at TheSize (designer and manufacturer of Neolith Sintered Stone). To achieve bright white veining on a pure black backdrop is a task testing enough on paper, but for a slab, a new technical avenue was entered. For this challenge, TheSize has developed an exclusive technique to achieve the stark contrast and distinct fine lines. Available in Polished and Silk finishes and in 6mm and 12mm thicknesses, it is ideal for floors, walls, bathroom and kitchen worktops, as well as furniture. Furthermore, Nero Marquina can also be book-matched to create mirror-like designs.
Nero Marquina is a result of Neolith’s innovative Digital Design (NDD) decoration technique. This system has revolutionised Neolith patterns and is pushing the boundaries of what colours and textures are possible to create on Sintered Stone.

The winning entries will receive their certificates during the Red Dot Gala taking place on 3rd July 2017 at the Aalto-Theater in Essen, Germany. The Red Dot Design Museum Essen will then present all award-winning products in its four-week winners’ exhibition.
The international award is a benchmark for excellent product design worldwide. The 40-strong jury had the difficult to appraise 5,500 products from 47 categories, thoroughly accessing the entries on several aspects, including innovation, quality, functionality and ecological compatibility.
Interzum Award 2017
Following its prestigious Red Dot Award in April, Neolith Nero Marquina continues to receive recognition from international design experts. The timeless monochromatic décor, was recognised by the Interzum Award panel for its outstanding resemblance to the natural stone and the high quality properties of the Sintered material.
Inspired by marble from Spain, Neolith Nero Marquina is a pure black backdrop Sintered Stone with bright white veining achieved through the innovative decoration technique Neolith Digital Design (NDD). The award-winning décor is a testament to TheSize’s technical expertise, as the design team had to develop an exclusive technique to achieve the stark contrast and distinct fine lines.
