Design and technique at the highest level: looking at the future, Lapalma has brought to Cologne the result of its first year under the guidance of Francesco Rota as art director.
To the existing collections, specific products have been added, specially designed, also for new markets: they are matched by a clean line and by the beauty of an essential timeless design. In order to suggest new mood and atmosphere, a new “samples box” has been prepared: a useful tool conceived for interior designers and specifiers to let them “create their own collection” by successfully match samples bigger than usual.
The renewed company’s philosophy was showing itself in Cologne, on a surface of 250 sqm reminding the stand of the latest Salone di Milano. The project, born to show the new Lapalma’s image, a strong and well-defined one, was welcoming all the products and suggesting the way to use them in different environments. Around three long black tables, several chairs and stools, also in new colours and finishes, welcomed the visitors and invited them to sit down, leaf through the pages of the catalogue and, in the meantime, tested the comfort of the seatings. The new families of products have been exhibited on big parallelepipeds lightened by colourful prisms with different shades, from green to blue, matching the surrounding props.
Aria and Fenix
Two are the news exhibited in Cologne: Aria chair, extremely light and minimalistic, a modern interpretation of an iconic project, essence itself of the chair for outdoor, also upholstered for indoor use. Fenix, an innovative material manufactured by Arpa, using the nanotechnology to get a surface with amazing characteristics, high performance and soft to the touch, used for the tops of Apta tables and the seat of Lem stool.
Moreover, there was the products launched in Milan last April, like Cut, a family of chairs by Francesco Rota, available with a number of basis, thought for various environments. A tub chair with soft but rigorous lines and with a strong personality freely changing form the essential shape for outdoor with Baydur to the version upholstered in fabric, leather, ecoleather or nubuck.
Also designed by Rota, Olo is a multipurpose chair in plywood, available in wood or upholstered with a stainless steel tube frame, and a gently shaped edge to get the sensation of strong lightness. The new and fresh air has blown also on classic items, like the Lem stool, a best-seller designed by Shin & Tomoko Azumi: now in Cologne with a new range of colours – with fix height or height adjustable. Miunn stool by Karri Monni is now also available as a chair, developed thanks to the technique of three dimensional moulding of plywood, a technology deeply tooted in Lapalma’s knowledge.
History
For more than 30 years Lapalma has been manufacturing furniture for residential and contract market, getting many international awards thanks to a coherent and constant research on the quality of materials, working process and care on finishes. Using “pure” materials, caring about details, producing in Italy: these characteristics belong to Lapalma’s dna and the cooperation with Francesco Rota will even reinforce them.
The new collections are introducing a soft touch with fabric upholstery, focusing on colours and the hand-made details: the products become then suitable for corporate projects and also “home-contract”, because they can be used in both ways and satisfying the need of the market.
For many years, Lapalma has been working with many international designers, building with them long-lasting and high quality relationship. In the near future, these cooperation will go on and, on the other side, new ones will start, with the introduction of new designers who have shown a potential similarity with our brand in terms of sensibility, professionalism and flexibility.
