Interzum Award 2015: the date for registrations is already closed

The closing date for registering outstanding products for the Interzum Award 2015 was 20 February 2015.

The award will be presented in the categories of Materials and surfaces, Fittings, glass and lighting and Upholstery manufacture and bedding, reflecting the segments of the leading international fair. The winners will be selected by a panel of independent and renowned expert jurors and announced at the prize-giving during the interzum opening ceremony on 4 May 2015. The focus is on innovative design and intelligent details

The Interzum Award: Intelligent Material & Design prize, organised by Koelnmesse together with Red Dot for the seventh time in 2015, honours the design quality of the products and materials on display at interzum. The jury will be concentrating on the innovative design and intelligent details which characterise a product’s aesthetic.

This year, the independent jury is comprised of five renowned figures:

– Martin Ballendat, Dipl. Des. (Graduate Industrial Designer), has been working as an internationally successful designer for 25 years and has won numerous design awards.

– Mårten Claesson, founder and co-owner of Claesson Koivisto Rune, an architecture and design company in Stockholm.

– Birgit Schwarzkopf, owner of Schwarzkopf Innenarchitektur (Schwarzkopf interior design studio) in Düsseldorf.

– Dick Spierenburg runs his own studio in the Netherlands and acts as Creative Director of imm cologne.

– Prof. Dr. Peter Zec is initiator and CEO of the Red Dot Design Award.  In addition, Zec was president of Icsid (International Council of Societies of Industrial Design) as well as chairman of the International Design Alliance (IDA). Today he holds the status of “senator” within Icsid and is consulted on all important issues affecting the association.

Together, the jurors will assess the designs according to their level of innovation, functionality, quality of material, shape and sustainability. The winners will be announced at the interzum opening ceremony on 4 May 2015.

The Interzum next edition will be held from 5 untill 8 May.
