Indigo: Schock brings a touch of the exotic to the kitchen

10 marzo, 2016

Intense smells, taste sensations, colour explosions… No other country elicits quite such wonderful sensory overload as India.

The word Indian is actually the origin of the name of the new colourway in the vibrant Colour Your Life range from granite sink manufacturer Schock: Indigo. Even in antiquity, the indigo plant, indigenous to southern Asia, China and the tropics of Africa, was used as the source of the classic hue. The very dark purple with a hint of blue was embellished with subtle metallic accents to earn its place in Schock’s portfolio. The new colourway’s thrilling, low-key sparkle turns any sink into a real highlight and brings a touch of adventure and the exotic into the kitchen. The colour works particularly well in kitchen islands and in combination with worktops in light wood or any shade of white. It’s the perfect complement to the Colour Your Life range from Schock.

Indigo: Schock brings a touch of the exotic to the kitchen

The granite sink manufacturer first began offering selected sink models in striking colours beyond the mainstream back in 2011. The Colour Your Life range consists of the colourways Sunflower, Peppermint Green, Ocean Blue, Pink and Rouge. The addition of Indigo sees Schock continuing the trend of setting accents in the kitchen with loud colours. This stylish colourway perfectly reflects the spirit of the age and adds that special something to the purist design found in many kitchens, said Sven-Michael Funck, Head of Marketing and Business Development.

Shades of blue join unusual textures and surfaces as increasingly significant trends for the 2016 season. This is also evidenced in BASF’s latest RAW Collection for the automotive industry, which is often the trendsetter for other sectors – such as the furniture industry. BASF anticipates a heightened demand for surfaces with a more tactile appearance – either literally, based on new concepts that use a perceptibly rough coating, or visually, owing to the specific composition of the pigmentation. The experts forecast a similarly positive development for the blue spectrum. According to BASF, the market will see everything from subtle shades with a hint of blue to bright blues and blackish-blue tones.

Indigo is yet available, both internationally and in Germany, for the Greenwich and Waterfall sink models.
